Every way of getting paid from abroad takes a cut, but each one takes it differently: a flat fee, a percentage, a minimum charge or a worse exchange rate. That makes headline fees hard to compare. This calculator works out the one number that matters, the rupees that reach your bank, for the invoice you are about to send.
What reaches your bank
You'd keep the most through Razorpay MoneySaver: ₹88,820.
| Way of getting paid | You receive | Total cost |
|---|---|---|
| Razorpay MoneySaverMost you keep | ₹88,820 | ₹1,1801.3% |
| Skydo | ₹87,982 | ₹2,0182.2% |
| Wise | ₹87,929 | ₹2,0712.3% |
| PayPal | ₹82,715 | ₹7,2858.1% |
How each figure is worked out
- Skydo: $19 up to $2,000, $29 up to $10,000, then 0.3%; live mid-market rate.
- Wise: About 1.7% plus $2.50 per transfer (estimate: Wise quotes each transfer in its calculator).
- Razorpay MoneySaver: 1% of the rupee amount, or a flat ₹1,000 below ₹1,00,000; no markup.
- PayPal: 4.40% + $0.30, and converts at 3% below the base rate.
- 18% GST is added to every fee. Total cost is everything lost compared with converting the whole invoice at the rate you entered.
How do you use it?
- Enter the invoice amount in US dollars.
- Enter today's exchange rate. Search "USD to INR" on Google and use the rate it shows; that is the mid-market rate Skydo, Wise and Razorpay convert at.
- Read the "You receive" column. "Total cost" is everything you lose compared with converting the whole invoice at the rate you entered: the fee, 18% GST on the fee and, for PayPal, its exchange-rate markup.
Why does the cheapest option change with the invoice size?
Because the four charge in different ways:
- Skydo charges a flat fee: $19 up to $2,000, $29 up to $10,000, then 0.3%. A flat fee is a big share of a small invoice and a tiny share of a large one.
- Razorpay MoneySaver charges 1%, but at least ₹1,000 on payments below ₹1,00,000. On a $300 invoice, that ₹1,000 is over 4% once GST is added.
- Wise charges a percentage plus a small fixed amount, so it stays cheap on small invoices but doesn't get cheaper as they grow.
- PayPal charges 4.40% plus $0.30 and converts at 3% below the base rate, so it costs about 8% at every size.
At ₹90 to the dollar, that makes Wise the cheapest below about $500, Razorpay from about $500 to $3,000 (Skydo is level with it just under $2,000) and Skydo above about $3,000. Try your own typical invoice: if your invoices vary, pick the provider that wins at the size you send most often, so your records and FIRAs stay in one place.
What the calculator doesn't include
- Wise's exact fee. Wise quotes each transfer in its own calculator and doesn't publish a fixed rate for receiving US dollars in India. The calculator uses 1.7% plus $2.50, based on estimates published by two of its competitors; if Wise quotes you less, it does better than shown.
- Bank charges. Your bank or your client's bank may deduct something, especially on a SWIFT transfer.
- Tax. Income tax and GST on your own services are separate; the guide to getting paid from abroad covers FIRAs, purpose codes, GST and the Income-tax Act, 2025.
