These are practice questions written in the style of company aptitude tests. They are not actual questions from any company's test. Time yourself: aim for 40 questions in 40 minutes, then check the answers and explanations at the end.
Answers that can be computed (series, codes, clocks, calendars, directions, syllogisms and the seating puzzle) were checked by running code. Blood relations and analogies were worked through twice by hand. For the quantitative side of the same tests, use the quantitative aptitude formulas.

- (c) 36. Squares of 1 to 6.
- (c) 17. Consecutive prime numbers.
- (a) 35. Each term is one less than a square: 11² − 1, 10² − 1, 9² − 1, 8² − 1, 7² − 1, so next is 6² − 1.
- (c) 21. Each term is the sum of the two before it (Fibonacci): 8 + 13.
- (b) 81. The differences are 5, 10, 15, 20, so the next difference is 25.
- (c) 38. The rule is n² + 1: 2, 5, 10, 17, 26, 37, 50. The sixth term should be 37.

Coding and decoding

Blood relations

Direction sense
- (a) 5 km south-east. He ends 3 km east and 4 km south of the start (5 − 9 = −4). The distance is √(3² + 4²) = 5 km.
- (b) North-west. North, turned 90° clockwise is east; 180° anticlockwise is west; 45° clockwise is north-west.
- (b) South. In the morning the sun is in the east, so shadows fall to the west. If west is on his right, he is facing south.
Ranking and order
- (b) 29. 12 + 18 − 1, because Ravi is counted twice.
- (b) 26. 40 − 15 + 1.
- (b) B. Tallest to shortest: D, A, B, C, E.
Clocks and calendars
- (c) 130°. Angle = |30 × H − 5.5 × M| = |90 − 220| = 130°.
- (b) 21 9/11 minutes past 4. The hands meet when 5.5 × M = 30 × 4, so M = 120 ÷ 5.5 = 240/11 = 21 9/11.
- (b) 11. The minute hand gains 330° an hour on the hour hand, so they meet every 12/11 hours: 11 times in 12 hours.

- (b) Friday. 2026 is not a leap year, so it has 365 days, which is 52 weeks and 1 day. The weekday moves on by one.
Syllogisms
- (b) Does not follow. The dogs could be animals that are not cats.
- (a) Follows. Every rose is a flower, and no flower is a stone.
- (a) Only I. The pens that are books are also papers. Nothing says every paper is a pen.
- (a) Follows. Every C is a B, and no B is an A, so no C is an A.
Seating arrangement
The only arrangement that fits, from left to right, is B, E, C, D, A. C is third and D is fourth. B must be at an end but not next to D, so B is first. A can't sit next to B, so A takes the fifth seat and E the second.

Analogies and odd one out
- (c) 9. It is the only number that isn't prime.
- (c) Moon. The others are planets; the Moon is a satellite.
- (b) Sculptor. An author creates a book; a sculptor creates a statue.
- (c) 125. 512 is 8 cubed, so the answer is 5 cubed.
Puzzles
- (c) 12. Cubes with two painted faces sit on the edges, excluding corners. A cube has 12 edges, each with 3 − 2 = 1 such cube.
- (b) 8:45. Subtract the mirror time from 11:60 (which is 12:00): 11:60 − 3:15 = 8:45.
